Original Fiction: Challenge Me

All right, fine.  I'll do this your way.  But you'll be my accomplices.

Make a Suggestion
  • Suggest a time (distant past, near future, etc).
  • Suggest a genre (preferrably sci-fi/fantasy)
  • Suggest a theme
  • Suggest all actors/actresses of color you want
...and I'll let my imagination run with it (or at least try to).

  1. From a post dated October 26:"I need to write my own vamp series."

    This.

Or maybe we should all write vampire thingies.

    1. Mm-hm. Maybe we should.

So...go on. You mentioned vamps. Care to elaborate?

    2. I don't like vamps just cos it's euro-fantasy. What's the romantic horror on the southern continent?

    1. Blood drinking corpse ghosts are actually pretty common around the world, yeah.

I am really sick of all the euro-centric vamp lore though. Well, I'm sick of eurocentric everything. So I'm starting to approach everything with "What if it's this but it isn't euro" and vamps are one of those I've been thinking about. And also if it isn't a fucking World of Darkness product.

    2. I concede. That was easy. Bring the non Euro and u know I'll back u up.
(Foxes and hungry ghosts are considered the vamps of E.Asia so u already been writing one for months! Muahahahhaaha)

Corbiu Geisha what is World of Darkness? I would look it up but am only on my wretched phone right now.

    3. Actually, there's a pretty good Chinese basis for vampires which aren't fox spirits and jiang shi. There's one historical book about immortality which list different types of immortals, lowest kind is the ghost immortal which is an immortal who cultivated too much yin and can't produce their yang anymore, so they have to get it from living things. One of these days, I'm going to make something with a ghost immortal. I simply cannot not want to!

World of Darkness is a franchise of mainly tabletop RPGs, best known for the game line Vampire: The Masquerade. Let's just say that their history of using non-Euro cultures in their games is really fucking shitty.

Super fucking shitty. Remember when White Wolf Publishing exhibited massive fail with the Kuei-jin?

And don't get me started on their version of African vampires. They talked about how "unlike the natives who just rolled over", African vampires actually fought the European vamps.

I'll get back to you on the rest.

  4. Dabo Queen has trouble posting comments, but here's what she recommends:

"Voodoo priestesses (specifically those attached to Baron Samedi)--half of them slay vampires as an affront to the dead, half of them are adherents to vamps as tribute to the dead (basically vamp groupies). The vamps themselves are basically True Blood horny meets Anne Rice candlelight criers.

    Time Period: late 1800s-early 1900s.

Actors: Sanaa Lathan, Gabourey Sidibe, Naveen Andrews (as a coven leader of vamps), Kristen Wilson, Thandie Newton, Aishwaria Rai."

She says if I don't like this, she has more.

  5. Dabo Queen also suggests:

"How about a futuristic cyber-punk twist on a haunting?

The space station's super computer gains semi-sentience and begins to manifest as signs of classic "ghosts" in an attempt to rid the humans?

Also, Naomie Harris. Having lots of dirty time with Dylan McDermott, because they would be INSANELY pretty together.

Other cast: Rosario Dawson, Amandla Stenberg (Rue from Hunger Games) playing her little sister (because ghost stories aren't complete without kids saying creepy shit), Tyrese Gibson, Daniel Dae Kim, Jang Geun Suk (playing a gothy, transgendered individual), Keke Palmer, Sonya Eddy, Ken Watanabe.

I hope with all my heart that Amaya will assist me in shipping the fuck out of some Naomie-on-Dylan action."

    1. Eliminate Tyrese Gibson's woman-beating ass from this.

I'm still on the steampunk express. Morris Chestnut, Leonard Roberts, and Orlando Jones as vampire warlocks, and Laverne Cox, Nia Long, and Sanaa Lathan as vampire witches in an extremely powerful coven.

I'm good with any other actors/'tresses listed here except for Tyrese, and I'm always here for my man Ken Watanabe.

    3. The cast sounds amazing (minus Tyrese of course) Funny Amaya mentioning Sanaa, I wrote short story about a coven consisting of Sanaa, Naomie Harris & Persia White.

  8. Ghosts hunters are definitely intriguing. So far...ghosts and vamps.
